Welcome to the 2008 edition of the Horticulture Week Plant Suppliers Guide - the essential reference guide for professional buyers of plants.

This latest edition is published as many in the industry are, for the first time in three years, looking forward to much improved trading conditions. With the London 2012 Olympics and its associated large scale landscaping projects on the way, sales at garden centres showing real signs of an upturn and the public realm featuring more prominently on the political agenda than ever before, horticulture is definitely on the up.

All of which means commercial plant buyers from landscape designers and contractors to garden centre and retail outlet purchasers are going to be busier than ever in the coming months - and more than ever in need of an easy-to-use guide to plant suppliers.

As with every edition of the guide, this year a number of enhancements have been made, including the addition of more comprehensive general product range categories to address the young plant, liner and rootstocks markets.

Meanwhile the continued and rapid growth of the cash and carry market is reflected in this year's guide which for the second year running includes a separate section on this area. This year, the section is almost twice the size of last year's - a remarkable record of the ongoing strength of this sector.
